FOLLICULITIS
Definition
Hair follicle inflammation, organ responsible for developing hair.
Cause
- Treatment with antibiotics
- Swimming in pools without enough chlorine
- Bacterial or fungal infections
- The contact with different chemicals
- Diabetes
- Patients with HIV
- Wearing tight clothes
- Excessive sweating
Signs and symptoms
In the first instance on the skin there appears a reddish area or several areas, possibly painful to the touch. Subsequently, these areas develop some pustules containing pus. Their evolution is the discharge of pus and subsequent healing, generally without scars.
Those areas can be painful to the touch or itchy.
Hygienic-dietary rules
- Use antibacterial soap
- Do not scratch the affected areas with folliculitis
- Use only personal towel
- Apply warm moist compresses to the affected areas for 5 minutes several times a day
