Malabsorption is disorders in the absorption of nutrients in the small intestine, resulting in no or very low levels of certain nutrients such as iron, Vitamin K, Calcium, Magnesium, Vitamin A, Vitamin B1, B6, B12, folic acid, etc.
Malabsorption is characterized by diarrhea, smelly seat containing fat.
Patients experience consistent amount of gas, bloating, and weight loss.
Women can also experience amenorrhea.
Other events are rare and may include dry skin, thickened nails plus other events, depending on the nutrient deficit created by malabsorption syndrome.
