PULMONARY TUBERCULOSIS

Definition
BK infection caused by bacillus or Kock, and that manifests in the lungs.
Cause
- Koch bacillus infection or BK
Signs and symptoms
Very often certain symptoms can be confused with those of other diseases.
Patient with pulmonary tuberculosis is feeble, tired.
Fever is present, with strong chills and sweating episodes at night.
Appetite disappears and patients may lose weight.
Patients cough and during cough they eliminate a yellowish sputum which in some cases may also have small blood threads.
Hygienic-dietary rules
- Patients should cover mouth when coughing or sneezing to prevent contamination of others.
- Staff in the health facilities where there are patients with tuberculosis must wear protection masks
- Avoiding alcoholic drinks
