Definition
Inflammation of the caecum, the portion that connects the small intestine and colon.
Cause
- Unknown etiology in all cases
- Patients with leukemia
- Neutropenia
- Appendicitis
Signs and symptoms
Patients with typhlitis present symptoms common with other diseases. These are fever, nausea, vomiting, watery diarrhea with possible presence of blood. Pain in the abdomen with emphasis in the lower right. The patient also accuses bloating.
